Harry Potter has been a safe haven during ALL of my in-betweens. It is a shelter in the storm, something I can count on time and time again. I’m sure that sounds a little silly, but, really and truly, I have read and re-read, watched and re-watched, and listened to and re-listened to the entire series over and over and over and over.
When I moved in with my parents after college and worked a job a hated before I was able to start subbing and applying for teaching positions, I re-read the books at home and listened to the audiobooks at work. When I moved back into my parents’ house after teaching for a year and a half in California and had no idea what I was doing with my life, I read (and watched) Harry Potter. When I felt hurt and lost miscarriage after miscarriage after miscarriage, I turned again to Harry Potter. And, every night, to give me something to focus on besides the thoughts that go around and around in my brain so I can fall asleep, I listen to Harry Potter.
Harry Potter was David’s proposal, our wedding, our babymoon, Lily’s nursery. It’s weaved into my life in all the best places, and it’s helped me work my way through the worst.
Since it is July 31st (Harry’s birthday), I thought it was only appropriate to put together a collection of sorts. I’ve compiled a list of my favorite links for all things Harry Potter: parties, locale, events, nurseries, weddings, crafts, classrooms, home decor, apparel, and gifts.
